Twitter just gave its users an emoji-filled present.
The company updated its site Thursday with support for the 72 new emoji characters part of the Unicode 9.0 update that rolled out in June.
The update includes the 72 new characters announced earlier this year, which include the bacon, avocado, selfie, whiskey and clown characters. Support for the new emoji hasn’t yet rolled out to iOS or most other operating systems so actually using the new characters will take a few extra steps than usual.
The easiest way to use them is to copy and paste the character you want to use from the emoji keyboard or Emojipedia websites. From there, you can paste them into tweets. When you paste them into your browser window, they will likely appear as boxes but will render on Twitter’s website once the tweet is actually posted.
Twitter is among the first companies to start supporting the new emoji characters, which are expected to come to iOS, Android and other platforms in the coming weeks and months.
