India Says no to Google’s Street View technology

There is awful news for Google addicts as India has declined to give exceptional status to the Internet mammoth’s Street View administration, essentially because of complaints raised by the Defense Ministry, a senior government official told The Hindu.

The Street View administration permits clients to have an all encompassing perspective of spots in urban areas, as they would look, in actuality.

The Internet goliath utilizes autos and bicycles fitted with cameras to gather 360-degree pictures of a spot.

The Hindu had written about January 30 that Home Ministry, which chooses the trusted status for such administrations, was unrealistic to permit Google’s Street View administrations in India given warnings raised by the Defense Ministry. It is learnt that a specialized board of trustees of the Defense Ministry, which involves authorities from Indian Air Force, Military Intelligence, Navy, Army and Intelligence Bureau, had collectively restricted the administration, the authority said.

“The principle concern was security of touchy resistance establishments. The Defense Ministry said it was impractical to screen the administration once it was propelled and it is unfavorable to national security,” said a senior government official.

Post-Pathankot assault

The proposition was rejected in February itself, principally in the midst of security worries after the fear assault at the Pathankot airbase on January 1-2. Examining offices suspect that terrorists utilized Google maps as they knew about the airbase’s geography.

The choice approaches on the heels of a proposed law to control Internet content in the nation. The Home Ministry as of late transferred the draft Geospatial Information Regulation Bill 2016 for remarks from people in general. In April 2015, Google delegates made a presentation on Street View for the MHA. They had told the authorities then that the stage would be helpful for tourism and fiasco administration.
